Lilac Breasted Roller

The Lilac-breasted Roller (Coracias caudatus) is a bird that embodies the very essence of beauty and elegance in the avian world. Known for its resplendent plumage and stunning aerial displays, this bird is a true gem of the African wilderness, gracing the Chobe and Savuti regions with its presence.
Found in both the Chobe National Park and the Savuti region, these birds are a common sight in the open woodlands, savannas, and grasslands. They favor the tall trees along riverbanks, where they perch to scan for their prey. Lilac-breasted Rollers are primarily insectivorous, and they possess remarkable hunting skills. They are renowned for their agile flight and their ability to snatch insects on the wing with astonishing precision. Their diet includes grasshoppers, crickets, beetles, and a variety of other arthropods.
